5 super simple life changes that will help you detox and dethatch from technology

Technology Detox Tricks

Now more than ever, we’re connected to and reliant on technology, smart phones and computers have become a part of our everyday lives. With all this technology come an overload of information, radiation and stress on our bodies.

So I thought id share with you a 5 super simple tricks from our new cookbook (The Bondi Harvest Balance) that will help you dethatch from technology and social media and help you reconnect with the world and people around you.

1.Blue Light Woes

The blue light from our devices impacts on the body’s production of melatonin, the hormone that controls our sleep cycle. To help get your sleep cycle back on track, avoid using electronics at least half an hour before bed; pick up a book instead.

2. Be kind & Unwind

Emails, social media and screen entertainment all stimulate brain activity and can often trick our brain into thinking we need to stay awake. If you want your mind to unwind before bed, leave the phone alone.

3. Do Not Disturb

Even as we sleep the vibrations, lights and sounds from notifications on our phones are still stimulating our brains and affecting our ability to stay asleep. So when it’s time for bed, set your phone to ‘do not disturb’.

4. Charge It Elsewhere

Plug your phone in away from your bed, preferably in another room entirely.

5. Get An Alarm Clock

If you wake up to a phone alarm, you’ll be more tempted to start checking emails and social media the minute your eyes are open. Get yourself an old school alarm clock and you won’t be tempted to get your Insagram on at 7am in the morning 🙂
