MARGARET RIVER
This has to be one of my favourite places in Australia
Last year we were lucky enough to be there during the Margaret River Pro and watch some of the worlds best surfers tackle some of the worlds best waves.

Her are our top 5 things to do in Margaret River.
1. Go Surfing
Margaret River has some of the best surf in the world, with breaks to suit most levels – right up to the very best of the best. We were there during the Margaret River Pro – one of the WLS tour events. Get there in the lead up and you might find yourself in the line up a few greats!
2. VISIT THE WINERIES
The unique geography position and soil composition of the Margaret River peninsular means this area producers some of the worlds best wines. You need a car but its well worth driving up or down the coast going from cellar door to cellar door (just make sure you have a designated driver).
There is everything form big name wineries like Vasse Felix, to farm house gates. We found a gem called Ashbrook Estate. THis place is still family run with 5 generations on the farm producing some of the very best wines I have ever tasted.
3. EAT SOME MARRON
Only found in this area Marron live in the creeks and brackish water but do us (and the Marron) a favour – only buy them farmed from the butcher of order them at the restaurant – we want to keep these guys safe for ever.
Cooked they are link a lobster but with a sweeter meatier flesh.
4. VISIT THE KARRI FORESTS
A 25 minute drive south of Margaret River town try the Boranup Drive. You’ll see towering Karri trees over 60m tall. A beautiful forest floor tumbling with wildflowers, orchids and funghi is a feast for the senses.
5. FESTIVALS
Its no secret Bondi Harvest loves Margaret River. We have been lucky enough to visit during two very different event – the Gourmet Escape and the Margaret River Pro. Both highlight the incredible natural features of the region. If you’re thinking of making the trip we would recommend thinking about going during these times.
SO there you have it. Margaret River. And our Bondi Harvest On Assignment top 5 things to do. Now get out there and find your adventure!
